Thunderstorms continue over Northeast Alabama this afternoon.
At 4:45 p.m. radar shows thunderstorms from north of Centre in Cherokee County to east of Gadsden to near Ashville in St. Clair County.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Cherokee County until 5:15. The strongest part of the storm is near Cedar Bluff.
A severe thunderstorm watch continues for all of North and most of North Central Alabama until 9 p.m. The watch includes Jefferson County as well as Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Etoawh, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, Morgan, St. Clair, Walker and Winston.
Additional storms will develop in the unstable airmass over North and Central Alabama as we head into the evening hours, mainly north of I-20.
