Skies are partly cloudy across Central Alabama this afternoon. Temperatures are in the middle to upper 80s. Dewpoints are in the lower to middle 60s, so it feels a little humid.
There are a couple of isolated very small and light showers across the state. One is near Priceville in Morgan County. Another near Ragland in St. Clair County. Another is near Ashland in Clay County and finally, one near Dadeville in Tallapoosa County. There is a stronger shower near Maocn, Mississippi, moving ESE toward southern Pcikens and northern Sumter Counties. This cell is weakening however.
A tornado warning is in effect until 445 p.m. for Bedford County, Tennessee, not far onrth of the Alabama border. It is for a large, isolated storm near Lynchburg. It is moving SSE at a little less than 20 mph. In about an hour and 15 minutes it will reach eastern Madison and western Jackson Counties in Alabama. It will be interesting to see if it holds together. It shows definite indications of hail, perhaps as large as golf balls.
An easterly wedge has pushed across much of northern Georgia this afternoon. It is accompanied by thicker cloudiness, cooler temperatures and lower dewpoints. The front is draped across the Northeast corner of the state. It is where the supercell storm in Tennessee has formed. Additional storms may form along the front over NE Alabama through the evening hours with large hail and some reports of damaging winds possible. No severe weather watch is anticipated at this time.
The front should push into Alabama giving us cooler readings for the start of the week. It will give us a chance for scattered storms tomorrow afternoon and evening.
