Yesterday the ole thermometer reached a springlike 75 at Tuscaloosa. At mid-morning today, WTXT Radio in Tuscaloosa reported very light flurries. The temperature at Tuscaloosa Airport at 9 am was 31, a plunge of 44 degrees overnight.
By the way, 109 years ago this morning (February 13, 1899) it was 7 below zero at Tuscaloosa and 16 below at Hamilton.
In our early morning forecast today, we mentioned the possibility of a bit of wintry precipitation over Extreme North Alabama but certainly not down into Central Alabama.
We have several reports of very light accumulation this morning mainly on roofs, decks, etc., but no general snow that is accumulation.
At mid-morning the low pressure area that brought all the rain was over the Carolinas and the cold front had pushed into North Florida. Visible satellite shows the overcast all the way back to West Mississippi so we will not see quick clearing for our areas.
