A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Madison and Jackson counties until 3:15 pm. That warning joins the other two for Lawrence and Madison counties until 3:00 pm.

Thunderstorms have developed in the high heat of the afternoon along the Tennessee River. Damaging wind is the main threat from these storms along with marginally severe hail, three-quarters to one inch or so, and lightning. Remember, severe thunderstorm warnings are not issued for lightning.

Storms are moving slowly to the south-southeast. It’s hard to say if these will hold together or additional storms will develop. Most storms will probably die out with the setting sun.
