Another night burning the midnight oil, but finally the storms are on the downside.
The line of storms that we have watched since 10 o’clock last night was pushing down into Central Alabama as 2 am approached. The line is more irregular and not as solid, so everybody is not getting the heavier showers.
The broken line of storms extended from near Tuscaloosa across South Jefferson County, south of Birmingham and then across Shelby and North Talladega to near Anniston.
Earlier, when they moved through Birmingham, winds were estimated at 50 mph in Vestavia and a measured gust to 51 at the Downtown Skycam atop the Daniel Building.
Looking ahead, there will be a good chance of thunderstorms again later today (Thursday) In fact the Storm Prediction Center has the north half of Alabama under a slight risk of severe weather later today. (Thursday)
This will probably be our last update but if storms grow stronger again, we will certainly be here again. Meanwhile, me and my toothache headed to bed if I can find Molly. She has been hiding all night so far because of the thunder and lightning.
