The leading line of showers across Alabama very late tonight was a long one. It extended from Scottsboro in extreme NE Alabama, southwestward to near Guntersville, Oneonta, Birmingham, Marion and Camden.

The individual showers were moving NE while the line was taking its own good time noving slowly east.

We have a report of heavy rain at Pinson, in NE Jefferson County.

Behind that leading line is a broad zone of showers, at least 50 miles wide, some of them moderate to heavy. The broad zone is at least 50 miles wide and extends back into much of Mississippi.

Translation: It will take hours for them to move through. No lightning late tonight, and no recent severe thunderstorms.
