Here is a quick look at some before the crack of dawn temperatures (4 am reports) Wonder why we say “crack of dawn” because I have never heard a cracking sound.

18 Decatur
19 Haleyville
20 Muscle Shoals
23 Gadsden
24 Anniston, Huntsville
26 Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Shelby County Airport
28 Auburn
31 Mobile

To the north:
43 below zero along the Minnesota-Canadian border
45 to 47 below across North and NE Canada

Remember, these Alabama temperatures are just teasers. The “real” cold that will make your teeth chatter will be when you get up Friday morning and Saturday morning.

I will probably rub a lot of people wrong by saying this but maybe 2 or 3 people right:

We should be glad that we do not have a blanket of snow across North and Central Alabama. If we did, we would almost surely see some zero and sub zero temperatures Friday morning and saturday morning. Translation: lots of busted pipes and radiators. Even without snow, the ole backyard R.C. Cola thermometer will probably be in the single digits across the North Alabama traditional cold spots. Would not be surprised to hear of lows 7, 8, or 9 even as close as Pinson.

For sure, this blog will be as busy as I-459 and U.S. 280 at rush hour for the next several days so say tuned.
