The low pressure area area that we are watching so closely seems to have its main center south of Mobile but it extends northward to and along the West Central-East Mississippi area.
To the west, colder air is filling in behind the low. While it was 60 in SE Alabama at 3 am, it was 43 in Muscle Shoals and 36 in Memphis. The wind in Memphis was from the north with gusts to near 40 mph. Some light sleet was reported earlier at Columbus, Miss.
We will have lots of updates in the next 24 hours. The better chance of any accumulating snow in Alabama will be over the Extreme NW and Extreme North.
Much better chance of snow to our west. Total expected accumulation from this storm in Memphis 4 to 6 inches.
More informationon how much snow is on the ground in areas west of here later this morning.
