The NWS Birmingham has issued a big areal flood warning for much of the area.
It is in addition to the flash flood warning for Bibb, Shelby, Chilton, Talladega and Coosa Counties.
The areal flood warning means that heavy rain has occurred and more rain is still falling. Major flash flooding is not expected, but there will be considerable ponding of water on roadways, with flooding of creeks and low lying areas.
