OK… I promise… the last lyrics I will use this week. This is a song written by the great Irving Berlin. Willie Nelson did a great version of this one..
“I was blue, just as blue as I could be
Ev’ry day was a cloudy day for me
Then good luck came a-knocking at my door
Skies were gray but they’re not gray anymore
Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see ”
SUNNY DAY: This is the day we have been waiting for… blue sky, sunshine, and a high in the low 70s. Our weather will finally feel like spring. Hopefully you can get out side and enjoy it…
WEEKEND CHANGES: Tomorrow looks like another great day; mild and breezy with a mix of sun and clouds. We should reach the mid 70s tomorrow afternoon… you might even need to turn on the air conditioner in the car for a while. But, Sunday will be a totally different kind of day with a vigorous storm system moving in from the west.
STORMS, THEN COLD: Watch the Weather Xtreme video for details… the 00Z GFS suggests the main window for rain and storms will come from about 1:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Sunday. SPC has really trimmed their severe weather risk to the immediate coast, and once again we see absolutely no surface based instability anywhere close to us, so a major severe weather issue is not expected despite the strength of the system. But you know the deal, when it comes to thunderstorms, expected the unexpected, so we will still watch it closely. Rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely.
Then, Sunday afternoon, as the rain moves out, colder air moves in. Sunday looks like a day when temperatures go the wrong way; we will begin the day in the 55 to 60 degree range, but wind up in the 45 to 50 degree range as colder air moves in by afternoon. Lingering clouds and a gusty northwest wind will make it feel colder.
MONDAY: This will be a raw, chilly day. The GFS is printing a low of 37 degrees for Birmingham at daybreak Monday; we believe clouds will linger through the day which should prevent a big problem with freezing temperatures. With clouds, and maybe even some drizzle at times, we will have a hard time reaching the 50 degree mark during the day. The sky will finally clear Monday night.
REST OF NEXT WEEK: Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny with a warming trend; we will reach the mid 60s Tuesday, followed by low 70s Wednesday. Then, rain returns at the end of the week. The 00Z GFS brings in the rain Thursday night and Friday.
