BREEZY AND COOL THANKSGIVING AFTERNOON: Temperatures are generally in the 50 to 55 degree range across North Alabama this afternoon, with a few spots holding in the upper 40s despite a bright sunny sky. A north breeze continues, gusting to 20 mph at times, but that wind will calm down tonight. With a clear sky and diminishing wind, we will see temperatures dropping quickly this evening. While we are forecasting an average low of 32, some of the colder spots should wind up in the 20s early tomorrow.
We will maintain a dry forecast through Sunday with a slow warming trend. We will see a high in the mid 50s tomorrow, followed by mid 60s on Saturday, and upper 60s on Sunday.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: Alabama is at Auburn for the 1:30 kick off tomorrow afternoon. Zero chance of rain, totally clear, temperatures will peak around 55 during the first half with some 40s by late in the game. Central Florida will be in Birmingham to play UAB in a 12:30 game. Temperatures should peak around 62 in the first half with lower 50s late in the game. For high school play off games Friday night, clear chilly weather with 48 to 50 at kick off with 38 to 40 late in the game.
NEXT WEEK: No doubt we will have some rain around Monday, but the global models are all over the road on the specifics of the system. Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the 12Z GFS is now splitting the upper trough; the first part will bring a chance of showers Monday, followed by the second part and more rain on Wednesday. We should have better clarity on the week’s weather tomorrow. For now it looks like the coldest air in the nation will remain north of Alabama next week.
