Rain–a cold bone-chilling rain–has already spread across NW and Extreme North Alabama very early on this Tuesday morning. Examples at 4 am:

37 light rain in Muscle Shoals and Huntsville
34 rain at Haleyville
35 rain at Bear Creek (NE corner of Marion County)
41 light rain at Tuscaloosa

It was raining over much of the Tennessee Valley, mostly light. Radar also showed rain over most of Lamar, Fayette, Walker, Cullman and Winston County. Some of it not reaching the ground because of the extremely dry air in the lower levels.

Moving east.

It will be raining in Birmingham before the morning rush hour.

The NWS/Huntsville advises that a wintry mix is possible for a time this morning across the Tennessee Valley, places like Florence, Huntsville, Decatur, Guntersville, Scottsboro, Fort Payne, Cullman and Moulton. By 10 am it should be all rain.

There could also be a little light freezing rain mixed with the rain in the cold air pockets of NE Alabama early this morning mainly east and NE from St. Clair and Blount County.

Elevated bridges and overpasses have been chilled by the weekend snow and cold.

The precipitation should be quite light and all rain by mid-morning.
