Looks like another round of cool and dry weather is in store for Central Alabama. The cold front which completely short changed me in the rain department is nearly clear of Georgia this morning with some clouds lingering across the eastern sections of Alabama. But those should be gone soon paving the way for a sunny but cool day with highs on the order of 60 to 62 degrees. Great football weather if you are headed to the Magic City Classic. But be sure to wear a jacket if you are headed to Auburn where they will be taking on Ole Miss. You’ll need the jacket because temperatures during the game will be falling through the 40s.
Great weather will continue Sunday with widespread frost likely across much of Central Alabama. But after a cool start the sunshine should bring us up to the lower 60s. Much of the first of the week will see similar conditions with daily sun and a cool start to the day.
After the nice weather through Thursday, we see the approach of a shortwave moving quickly through the upper flow. This should drag a front into the area late in the day along with rain and showers. But that shortwave is quickly replaced by a ridge which will give us a nice Friday and probably much of Saturday. By mid-day Saturday, however, a big trough is forecast to be close to the Mississippi River, and this trough should bring a good shot at some rain. The rain is likely to hold off until Saturday evening or even early Sunday. However, one caveat! Timing is always an issue with a feature that far out. So it might be a little later, or perhaps, even a little earlier. So forecasts will probably need to be updated as we get closer to that event.
Tropics remain really interesting with the fizzle of Rina. There are two areas of disturbed weather in the tropics, one in the western Caribbean and one way out in the southern Atlantic. Neither of these is likely to develop into anything within the next couple of days.
Voodoo country remains fairly progressive with a fast flow. It also would appear that early November will be warm with a general troughiness over the western US and a ridge over the East Coast.

I’m excited about heading to Fort Morgan tomorrow for a few days of beach. But for tonight, I will be filling in for Ashley Brand on the newscast at 6 and 10 pm on ABC 3340. It’s nice to be back handling the weather duties. I plan to have the next Weather Xtreme Video posted by 8 am or so on Sunday morning. I hope you have a great day whatever your plans might be.
