Fitting weather for a Monday. A shortwave trough moving across the region is providing enough uplift to produce clouds and a few light showers across north-central Alabama today.

It is drizzly and misty across much of the area, but we are seeing some heavier showers across portions of Tuscaloosa, Fayette, and Walker Counties. This area of showers should make it into the Birmingham area later this afternoon.

The cloud cover in place today is keeping our temperatures rather cool as well. Most locations across north-central Alabama are in the mid 50s this early afternoon. To our south, where the sun is out, many areas have warmed into the mid and upper 60s, with even a 70 degree reading at Mobile.

The chance of showers and clouds will hang around the rest of today.
