THIS MORNING: Where the sky is clear, temperatures are down in the low to mid 30s, but where clouds are hanging around, the readings are in the mid 40s. We will forecast a mix of sun and clouds today with a high in the upper 50s as the big upper low near St. Louis continues to move north, away from us.

REST OF THE WEEK: Look for lots of sunshine tomorrow and Friday, with highs in the low 60s tomorrow, and mid 60s on Friday. We will be well down in the 30s at daybreak tomorrow with some frost likely, and a freeze for the colder valleys.

OUR WEEKEND: A wet storm system will form in the western Gulf, and rain will become widespread over the southern quarter of Alabama Saturday. Still looks like the heaviest rain will be south of Montgomery; up this way we could see some light rain Saturday along the I-20 corridor, but to the north the day should be dry. As the surface low moves northeast, rain will be a little more likely Saturday night along and south of I-59, and that rain will end Sunday morning as the surface low moves away from us. For Sunday, we believe the sky will become partly sunny by afternoon with a high around 60.

THANKSGIVING WEEK: See the Weather Xtreme video for the day by day breakdown. Monday will be dry, but a dynamic storm system will bring a round of showers and storms to the state by Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday night. If we can see sufficient moisture and instability, this one could bring some risk of strong to severe thunderstorms to the Deep South. We will keep an eye on it as it gets closer.

Wednesday of next week looks dry and cool; then sharply colder air moves in for Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday/Iron Bowl Friday.

VOODOO LAND: Again, watch the Weather Xtreme video for the details, but the weather looks pretty active as we get into early December with frequent short waves riding along the enhanced southern jet. We will have to watch for severe weather potential here.
