It’s been a crazy night across Central Alabama as thunderstorms exploded just after 10 p.m. and grew into monsters spewing lightning and torrential rains and producing some damaging winds and hail.
Things have actually calmed quite a bit in the past 30 minutes.
One severe thunderstorm warning now in Central Alabama. It covers eastern Bibb, Chilton and Coosa Counties.
Thunderstorms continue to be quite intense from southwestern Jefferson through much of SHelby, Bibb, Chilton and Coosa Counties as this hour.
Light to moderate rain was falling over much of Lamar, Fayette, Walker and Tuscaloosa Counties.
The number of severe weather reports has really slowed, but the lightning output is still quite impressive, and one hour rainfall rates are still running 1 to 2 inches over parts of the area.
