Mr. Barry, the wannabe tropical storm certainly did us no favor as far as drought relief is concerned.

He remained near the Atlantic Coast with his huge buckets of rain.

But he did do us a huge favor. Did you notice today?

No more smoke.

Not even any haze.

Great visibility

Blue sky instead of slate gray.

It appears that Barry dumped so much rain on Florida and SE and East Georgia that most of the forest fires were eliminated. Have not seen official numbers from the USFS but I don’t see how even a large fire could survive a 3,5,6 or even an 8 inch rain amount.

One of the largest storm totals so far was 8 inches at Mt. Vernon, in SE Georgia. In Florida, 7 inches fell at West Palm Beach. In South Carolina, there was 6.12 inches at Hardeeville.

WHERE IS BARRY?
Late this afternoon, the low pressure area, his remains, eas centered near Morehead City close to the North Carolina Coast. He is still producing a lot of rain as he moves toward the NNE about 10 mph.

Thanks Barry. We appreciate you helping cleanse our air.
