The radar map across Alabama looks like it has the measles late this afternoon. There are dozens of showers and many of them cannot decide which way they want to go. Some of the heavier showers, of course, have grown into thunderstorms and dumping very heavy rain. This is not totally unlike yesterday.

Heavy showers over Central and Eastern Jefferson County. It has been raining heavily from the downtown area out to Birmingham Airport and north eastward almost to Trussville. That thunderstorm shows an irregular movement but mostly stationary.

To the northwest of Birmingham, there were heavy showers along the Jefferson/Walker County line. Those, too, had an erratic movement. Other heavy showers, many of them thunderstorms, were spotted in these areas.

…..Along the Marion/Lamar County line in NW Alabama, mainly south of Hamilton
…..In NE Alabama, from north of Boaz over to near Ft. Payne
…..Over Coosa, Tallapoosa and Chambers County where there are 7 to 8 small but heavy showers.
…..NW Clarke County in SW Alabama

You get the idea. It is entirely too many showers to mention individually. Watch out for the lightning and slow down in the heavy rain.

A BLOG commenter with a screen name of Shep, reports that an earlier storm dumped 3/4 of an inch of rain south of Gadsden. He was happy to get that.
