RIGHT NOW: Our surface front is moving through North Alabama producing pockets of showers and strong storms; Sumter County in West Alabama is under a severe thunderstorm warning as I write this. All of the showers and storms will end this evening as dry air moves in, and we are still promising a beautiful weekend.

TOMORROW AND SUNDAY: You know the deal… sunny days, clear nights, low humidity, and cool mornings. The GFS is printing 61 for Sunday morning, and 60 for early Monday; many places will reach the upper 50s. Highs over the weekend will be in the mid 80s with a good supply of sunshine both days.

NEXT WEEK: The benign weather pattern continues next week, with only a slow increase in heat and humidity. The week looks mostly dry, although the 12Z GFS hints at a few isolated showers and storms by Thursday and Friday.

BILL: The hurricane in the Atlantic is right on the forecast track, passing between the East Coast of the U.S. and the island of Bermuda. Bill will skirt through the Canadian Maritimes late Sunday and Monday, and then race northeast as an extra-tropical storm toward Scotland by the end of next week.

Another disturbance is in the far eastern Atlantic, but upper air winds don’t favor development in the short term. The rest of the Atlantic basin is quiet.

I enjoyed speaking at Social South at Innovation Depot in Birmingham this morning, and I had a blast with the kids at Stemley Road Elementary School in Talladega County this afternoon. Be looking for them on the Pepsi KIDCAM at 5:00 on ABC 33/40 News. My next Weather Xtreme video will be posted Monday morning by 7:00 a.m…. Brian Peters will have the video updates tomorrow and Sunday. Enjoy the weekend!
