WARM AFTERNOONS CONTINUE: Our weather won’t change much through Friday. Warm afternoons, pleasant nights, a good supply of sunshine each day. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, about 7 to 10 degrees above average for mid-April in Alabama. Rain producing systems for the short term will ride well to the north of Alabama.
THE WEEKEND: A cold front will bring the risk of a few showers and storms to Alabama over the weekend. Watch the Weather Xtreme video, and you will see the 12Z GFS is a little slower, hinting the best chance of a shower or storm will come from about 4:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight Saturday. The rain won’t be too heavy, and we don’t expect any severe weather. In fact, QPF guidance from HPC suggests rain totals here only between 0.01″ and 0.10″. Then, cooler and drier air returns Sunday with a good supply of sunshine. Highs over the weekend will be in the mid 70s.
NEXT WEEK: Monday looks generally dry, but moist air returns Tuesday, when we will introduce a chance of showers. The latter half of the week looks rather unsettled with some risk of showers and storms just about on a daily basis. And, out there in the longer term, it sure looks like the weather will be wetter during the last 10 days of April, but still no sign of any serious severe weather threat.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. We will record this week’s episode tonight; it will be posted by midnight.
