COLD FRONT TONIGHT: While clouds are lingering over the eastern half of Alabama, we have some big gaps in the overcast on the western side of the state this afternoon, pushing temperatures there up into the low to mid 60s. Where the clouds are still in place, readings are mostly in the 50s. To the west, we continue to watch a cold front that will move through the state tonight. The southern end of the front is very inactive, and most places won’t see a drop of rain tonight as the system passes through.
TOMORROW THROUGH FRIDAY: Looks like we will enjoy a good supply of sunshine tomorrow with a high in the low to mid 60s. A great day for travel in the state of Alabama, and much of the nation as well since we see no major storm systems on the map. The most widespread rain across the U.S. will be over the Florida peninsula, and snow showers are possible around the Great Lakes. Any airport delays should not be related to weather tomorrow.
A sharp upper trough will bring cooler air down into Alabama for Thanksgiving Day and Friday. Looks like Thursday will feature a high in the low to mid 50s with a decent amount of sunshine, and we will be down around freezing by daybreak Friday. Friday remains dry and cool with a high in the 50s.
THE ALABAMA/AUBURN GAME: (Or, is it the Auburn/Alabama game?) I pull for both teams, but nobody in the whole wide world believes me except my little 9-pound puppy. Looks like great weather for the annual clash—this year being played in Auburn on Friday instead of Saturday. It should be sunny with temperatures at kick off in the lower 50s dropping quickly into the 40s during the second half. Winds should be fairly light, but you might still need some warm clothes.
SATURDAY/SUNDAY: Great weather continues over the weekend, with highs mostly in the 60 to 65 degree range both days. We do note Saturday morning will be cold with an early morning low near freezing.
NEXT RAIN: The 12Z GFS is a little faster with the next rain producer for the state; it suggests most of the rain will come from about midnight Sunday night through midday Monday. We really never get in the warm sector, so on this run severe storms don’t look probable. Colder air floods into the state Monday afternoon and Monday night, but the low level thickness values really don’t support snow flakes at this time. Drier air arrives Tuesday and Wednesday.
THE LAND OF VOODOO: Watch the Weather Xtreme video for some of the GFS ideas. No way we can be specific with this active pattern, but the idea of frequent Gulf of Mexico low pressure areas/storm systems is still very likely. And, with occasional shots of colder air, we sure might see a flake or two of snow before Christmas this year. Looks like a fun month of December ahead with the negative Arctic Oscillation and the El Nino storm track.

I had a great time this morning at the Rick and Bubba Turkey Toss, and at West Point High School in Cullman County. I will post some pictures a little later this afternoon. The next Weather Xtreme video will be posted by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow!
