There will be no Weather Xtreme Video today or Sunday due to my working at the Barber Motorsports Park for the Indy Grand Prix. Unfortunately, there is no quiet place to get a video done, and believe me, the race cars make a lot of noise.

The Birmingham International Airport hit 71 for the high yesterday, and it looks like a warm and dry weather pattern will be in place for us for the next 6 to 7 days. A weak short wave coming through the flow today will bring cirrus clouds to the sky helping to filter the sun a bit. But we should continue the warming trend with highs today reaching the lower and mid 70s.

In the upper atmosphere, a somewhat zonal flow today will transition to a strong ridge by Wednesday and Thursday. The upper ridge will begin to break down on Friday and Saturday with some possibility for rain next Sunday. As the upper ridge develops, we should warm up to around 80 by the middle of the week and hold there into the weekend.

The next rain action comes as we get into voodoo country. As the ridge breaks down late next weekend, it will lead to a pattern of showers and a week of somewhat unsettled weather in sharp contrast to the week ahead of us.

Thanks for your understanding with respect to the lack of video this weekend. I expect to have another discussion posted by 9 am or so Sunday morning.
