DRY IS THE WORD: Sure looks like we can pretty much rule out any significant rain for Alabama for the next 3 to 5 days as this long dry spell continues. Today is the 7th consecutive day with no rain for Alabama, and we will certainly stay dry tomorrow with a high in the mid 80s, near record territory. Tomorrow’s record high is 89 set in 1977… we will be within 4 degrees of that in most places with a sunny sky.

THE WEEKEND: A cold front will come through Saturday evening, mostly in dry fashion. I guess a few isolated showers could show up, but the risk now looks so small we won’t really need to mention it in the forecast. The weather looks great for both A-Day games (Tuscaloosa and Auburn), with a partly sunny sky at both stadiums. Tuscaloosa will see a high Saturday in the upper 70s, with low to mid 70s at Auburn. Sunday will feature a sunny sky with a high in the low 70s as cooler air slips into the state. The latest GFS MOS is printing a high of 71 for Birmingham on Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: Check out the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the 12Z GFS keeps our weather dry through Thursday of next week (April 22). If that is correct, that means we will have 14 consecutive days of dry weather, something that rarely happens during the month of April, which usually features frequent thunderstorm events.

VOODOO LAND: The GFS continues the idea of our next significant rain event on Saturday April 24, followed by drier and cooler air on Sunday April 25. Remember, this is all beyond seven days and certainly subject to change.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
