Scattered thunderstorms continue to develop over the north part of the state and they were all moving toward the SE. Here is the location of some of the stronger storms at 12:30 p.m.:

* In NW Alabama…over Eastern Colbert, much of Franklin, part of Lawrence and North Marion.

* Over NE Alabama…from SW of Ft. Payne, down across Etowah County, into NE St. Clair County. It was really pouring over NE St. Clair County in places like Ashville and Ragland,

* Over East Alabama…much of Cleburne County.

* There were smaller thunderstorms in a row along I-20, from Irondale in the east edge of Birmingham, to Leeds and Pell City.

There is considerable lightning in most of these larger storms and we do not need to remind you of the danger with that.

YESTERDAY’S STORMS
* They were rough up in the northern part of the state. At mid-afternoon, trees were reported down in Joe Wheeler State Park in Lauderdale County and on the golf course. One tree fell on a transformer and knocked out power for several hours at the state park.

* At about the same time, a Huntsville TV station reported quarter-size hail on Clinton Avenue in Huntsville. That translates to 1-inch in diameter. A TV station also reported penny-size hail at the intersection of South Memorial Parkway and Boulevard South. Golf-ball size hail also reported on University Drive.

* At 4:47 p.m., flash flooding was occurring in Huntsville on Washington Street from Oakwood Avenue to Washington Circle. The road was closed.
