It is a story of more very heavy rain and flash flooding in part of the Tennessee Valley.

The Storm Prediction Center, in their updated discussion ,has now included North Alabama in a Slight Risk area between now and tomorrow morning. This is from about Birmingham northward.

Radar early this afternoon showed some widely scattered showers developing further south into Central Aalbama, including a few in Coosa, Talladega and Clay Counties. Also, some showers were developing between Birmingham and Oneonta.

But the main show is still up over extreme NW Alabama where flash flooding continues.

The NWS/Huntsville continues a Flash Flood Warning for Colbert, Lauderdale and Lawrence Counties until 1:45.

SPECIFIC REPORTS
Broadcast media reported very heavy rain late this morning at Rogersville in Lauderdale County. Marty Broman reported a very impressive 6.15 inches of rain through 11:25 this morning. In addition, another inch of rain was recorded yesterday.

In Colbert County, a report from the public in Cherokee mentioned flash flooding at 11:25 a.m. In the Cherokee community, water 6 inches to 1 foot deep was over some of the roadways. Some of the flooded streets included Pike, Pine and Sixth Street. A portion of North Pike Street was closed due to the flooding.

Movement of the thunderstorms is toward the ENE and overall, they were not as heavy on a widespread basis as earlier. The heavier ones were over the NW corner of the state. However, a line of thunderstorms has formed over NE Mississippi and these were advancing eastward toward NW Alabama.
