That first line of showers and thunderstorms became shorter and most of it is going to miss Jefferson County.
At 12:45, the line extended from Eastern Cullman County and West Blount County NE into Jackson County in the extreme NE corner of the state. The heaviest rain was east of Cullman and spreading into West Blount and Etowah County.
Now our attention turns back westward to the second line of showers and thunderstorms which extends all the way from Middle Tennessee down across the NW tip of Alabama (near Waterloo) and into NE Mississippi and finally down into Central Mississippi. The second line of storms will be affecting Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin and Marion Counties in NW Alabama in the next hour or so.
Meanwhile, another area of showers and thunderstorms developed over East-Central Mississippi, mostly NW and north of the Meridian area. These will be moving into West Alabama’s Sumter, Greene and Pickens County.
Most of Alabama is still under a slight risk of severe weather for the remainder of this afternoon.

Good weather expected. Mostly dry with pleasant daytime temperatures.
WEEKEND
Another chance of some severe thunderstorms on Saturday…a better chance than today. Most of those should be out of here by Sunday morning.
