Coldest weather at mid-day was in the Tennessee Valley. Like this:

The dew points over North Alabama are very low–especially for weather like this.
Thats a good thing.
With low dew points, and a break in precipitation, water will evaporate from the roads quicker.

34 and overcast. We project the official temperature to slowly sink to about 30 by 6 o’clock or so. Chance that some patchy light drizzle could still be around. Drizzle freezes on impact better than rain because the water droplets are smaller.
But it takes more of it to slicken.
In general, the area got by rather easily.
