That broad zone of showers and thunderstorms continues from far SW Alabama all the way into NE Alabama. It is not a distinct line of storms. The whole system is moving toward the east rather slowly.
At 1:10 p.m., some of the stronger storms and heavier rain was over NE Shelby County, Talladega and Clay Counties. The NWS/Birmingham continues a Significant Weather Alert for Clay County until 1:45. A Significant Weather Alert means strong storms with possible hail and some strong gusty winds, but it is one step short of being a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.
To the north of Alabama, a stronger line of thunderstorms was entering NW Mississippi and extended across Central Tennessee. The line is within 50 miles of extreme NW Alabama. Severe Thunderstorm Watches extend over a wide area in connection with those storms, including all of Tennessee and extreme North Mississippi.
