The Tornado Watch for a large part of Central and South Alabama continues until 6:00 p.m. This is generally from the Eutaw-Centreville-Clanton-Rockford and Lafayette line southward.
At noon, there was no watch in effect for the immediate Birmingham area.
Down in SW Alabama, a Tornado Warning was posted for Choctaw County. That storm was moving NE toward Marengo County. Numerous showers were occurring over West Alabama, including some strong thunderstorms. Some of the heaviest rain was over Winston County and Eastern Marion County spreading toward the NE.
To the west, several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were in effect in Central Mississippi. There has been some violent weather down over South Mississippi. We have one report (unconfirmed) of numerous trees down in the Hattiesburg area, including the University of Southern Mississippi campus.
