Bill Murray is getting some shut-eye. Today (Friday) was his birthday.

Very early on this Saturday morning, widespread precipitation continues across Central Alabama. For several hours, the entire rain area has been shifting toward the ESE so now much of the north third of Alabama is out of it.

The north edge of the precipitation is roughly along the Veron-Jasper-Oneonta-Gadsden-Anniston line. However, most of the rain was south of the Eutaw-Greensboro-Centreville-Clanton-Rockford line.

The heaviest of all was over Marengo and Wilcox County.

NWS/Birmingham continues Winter Weather Advisory for Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Winston [AL] till 8:00 AM CST.

Still a risk of some spotty icing in places like Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Gadsden and Anniston but the threat seems to be less due to the ESE movement of the rain shield.

CURRENT SPOT REPORTS
34 light rain Birmingham Airport
34 cloudy Gadsden
34 light rain Tuscaloosa

By far the main icing problems in this storm affected Mississippi. Numerous accidents and at least one fatality. This included the Columbus-Starkville area of East Mississippi.

We will stay on watch the rest of tonight.
