A bit of good news although not sealed in stone yet: The NWS/SPC thinks they will not have to extend the Severe Thunderstorm Watch beyond the scheduled 8 pm expiration. That watch includes five NW Alabama counties:
Lamar
Marion
Franklin
Colbert
Lauderdale
At 6:45 a line of strong thunderstorms was moving steadily eastward into North and NW Alabama. It extended from between Decatur and Huntsville southwestward into Franklin and Marion County and into Mississippi.
The line is not solid but there is still a lot of lightning. Many of the storms are producing heavy rain.
Actually, the strongest thunderstorms were just over the line in Southern Tennessee.
