Tornado Watch no longer in effect for any part of Alabama.

It expired at 6 pm.

However, there was still an area of moderate to strong thunderstorms across Central and East Alabama from Bibb and Perry County eastward to Coosa and Randolph.

Lightning activity has greatly decreased. These storms still have the energy to dump some more locally heavy rain but no formal warnings were in effect.

Numerous communities had damage today although there was no confirmed extensive major structural damage. I am reluctant to say that because if even one home has significant damage, it is major to that family.

But no long-track tornadoes. NWS will determine later if there were any tornadoes.

Lots of heavy rain and that is a good thing.

Just a few additional rain amounts. We will post some more later this evening and for sure by tomorrow morning.

This may be our last update for awhile unless the remaining showers and storms intensify again. We don’t expect that to happen.

But there is someone famous in this city that always says, “with thunderstorms, always expect the unexpected.”

Hint…he wears suspenders during severe weather, kicks off his shoes and he loves BBQ.
