As nightfall approaches, there are still some very strong thunderstorms roaming the Alabama countryside, especially across the central part of the state. The NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Tallapoosa County in East/Central Alabama. The strongest storms in that area are across much of Tallapoosa County with the strongest of all in the southern tip of the county between Dadeville and Tuskegee.

Other strong storms were over North Chambers County approaching Lafayette.

Over on the west side of the state, it was pouring rain across Central Tuscaloosa County, especially from near Lake Lurleen State Park eastward to just north of Tuscaloosa and to the NE corner of the county.

There was also a strong storm in extreme NW Alabama and Western Colbert County.

Lightning detection equipment shows that these stronger storms still have too much lightning.

The only good news in all of this is that there are fewer in number of the real dangerous storms. Besides the strong storms, widespread rain or showers affect much of the state, especially from about Montgomery northward to the Tennessee border. Most of the thunderstorms were moving toward the SW.
