As of 330 am, 20 here in Trussville, 22 BHM, 25 TCL, 18 ANB, 19 GAD, UAH 17, 25 MGM, 26 Dothan, 31 MOB, 32 Gulf Shores, 32 Panama City, 13 Mentone, 19 Atlanta. Probably will not make it above freezing today in areas north of I-20. At BHM, it went below freezing at 5 pm Sat, and since we may not get back above freezing until noon Wednesday, that would be 91 consecutive hours below freezing. Please take all precautions with pipes, bring pets inside if at all possible, and check on people.

00Z models getting wetter except for European…water equivalent precip Thu/Thu night on GFS is 0.40″, Canadian GEM 0.61″, and European is 0.07″. The wetter models seem to be involving slightly warmer, more moist Gulf air, but it should still be cold enough for snow unless things really change. Chances increasing now of snow sometime late Thursday, but to know for sure or predict amounts is premature. There is the possibility that this could be a significant event. More cold air comes in late week and weekend, so if it does snow it could stick around for a while, with daytime temperatures possibly in the 20s Friday and Saturday.

We will have frequent updates on this blog as this dangerous cold and possible snow event unfold.
