It’s never good when you’re the morning weather guy and the thunder wakes you up, but it happened to me about 20 minutes before normal rise-and-shine time today! A good, steady soaking has been in progress for the last 90 minutes here in Shelby County, and there are a lot of other places as JB mentioned below that are getting some good rain this morning. Here are a few totals from local weather stations:
Shelby County Airport: 1.39″ (6-hour total ending at 3 AM)
Brandywine (Helena): 1.10″
Fieldstone (Helena): 1.26″
Sunny Meadows (North Shelby Co.): 1.50″
Homewood: 0.91″
Bessemer: 0.77″
Birmingham Airport: 0.28″ (6-hour total ending at 3 AM)
If you didn’t get it early this morning, your chances are still good through the afternoon and evening for more rain! Keep your umbrellas handy today.
See you on Good Morning Alabama starting at 5 AM!
