A few thunderstorms were cranking up early across Central Alabama late this morning. They were not waiting until the peak heat of the afternoon. A slow-moving storm was along the Jefferson/St. Clair County line near Springville. It has already produced 0.36 rainfall at Simmons Mountain in Springville and their temperature is down to 74.
The SW corner of Tuscaloosa County has also received a good amount of rain. Just before 11:00 a.m., the heaviest rain in that area was along I-59/20 in the Fosters Ralph area and also just NW of Moundville in Hale County. The storms were moving toward the west and SW slowly. We can already hear thunder in the NE edge of Trussville from the storms just west and SW of Springville.
