The National Weather Service has upgraded portions of Central Alabama to an extreme cold warning, effective from 12am until 11am Monday. This alert includes the following counties: Marion, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, and Randolph.
The previously issued extreme cold warning for southwest Alabama, which was discussed in our prior post, remains in effect. There is also a cold weather advisory in effect for all remaining Alabama counties not included in the extreme cold warning.
Within this newly issued extreme cold warning, wind chills between 0 and 5 degrees are expected, which can be dangerous with prolonged exposure.
