Additional storms were expected to bring more heavy rain to the Auburn/Opelika areas through 3:00 p.m. which will increase the flash flood threat.

This Flash Flood Warning also includes Auburn University, Beauregard and Beans Mill.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until 7:00 p.m. for a large part of Central and South Alabama. The closest counties to the Birmingham metropolitan which are included in the watch are Bibb and Tuscaloosa Counties.

RADAR CHECK 2:00pm
Much of West Alabama is without thunderstorms at this hour, including Florence, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Livingston and most of the Mobile area. Also, the Tennessee Valley has few if any. By far, the most thunderstorms were concentrated over South/Central and SE Alabama as well as east/central and part of NE Alabama. Some of those stronger storms extended from Cherokee County southward and also a number of strong storms SW of Montgomery. Lightning detection equipment shows that almost all of those storms are really producing lightning strikes.

The overall movement of the thunderstorms is toward the north and slightly more to the NNW.
