Radar estimates that 2-3″ of rain fell in one hour, between 130 pm and 230 pm, in NE Jefferson County. The heaviest rain affected Pinson, Center Point, Clay, Chalkville, and Trussville. Several roads were closed, including Highway 75 just south of Sweeney Hollow Rd, Grayson Valley Drive, and others. There were reports of a water rescue in Trussville. Even though rainfall amounts were only 2-3″, when it falls this fast the drainage system into area creeks and rivers can’t move the water out fast enough.

Flash flooding has also been reported in Roanoke in east-central Alabama.
