The stalled front is finally on it’s way out with the sky clearing from the northwest early this morning. A few sprinkles occurred very early this morning south of Interstate 20, but the rain has essentially moved out of the state. With drier air filtering into the state, we should see temperatures climb nicely to around 60 for most spots.

We stay dry until late Thursday and early Friday. A dry front will reinforce the cold air on Wednesday, but in typical fashion for the Southeast US, that cold surge does not last very long with highs recovering by Thursday afternoon.

Clouds late Thursday with rain overnight will depart later Friday clearing the way for a nice weekend. I think Saturday and Sunday should be dry with temperatures seasonal for this time of year with lows in the lower 30s and highs in the mid and upper 50s.

A new system moving our way the first of next week promises some rain on Monday. And the overall pattern affecting the US appears set to undergo a major shift which could bring cold air back to the eastern US along with some serious winter weather issues for the Central US. And potentially winter weather issues for the Southeast.

And the long range GFS suggests some interesting weather for the Southeast that might mean one or two winter weather episodes. It is much too early to pin down the exact time and location for any winter storms, but the GFS has been steady and consistent with the threats, so it will bear a close watchful eye.
