A vast ocean of warm air and high humidity blankets the state.

Automatically, this leads to showers and thunderstorms on a day like this especially with the heating of the afternoon.

So this is the picture at 3:30:

* Widely spaced showers and a few thunderstorms across Central Alabama mainly across Shelby, Talladega and Clay County.

* Showers and thunderstorms more numerous over the southern 1/3 of the state.

* Storms also more numerous over the extreme north across Morgan, Madison and Limestone counties. This includes such cities as Hartselle, Decatur, Huntsville and Athens.

Everything moving north.
