One of the best parts of taking a trip is the planning. I have been looking forward to our trip to Boston for several weeks. Trying to cram in as many activities and sights and dining experiences is a fun thing for me. Now, planning a trip to an outdoor city like Boston around inclement weather makes things a little more interesting. I have been watching the GFS for the past fifteen days, trying to discern which days of our vacation would be wet, which ones would be dry, etc. Would it cool, or warm? Well, I have to say that the model has been very consistent and apparently very right in predicting that it would be unsettled during the coming week in New England. So armed with that knowledge, we will walk between the raindrops to fit in a busy schedule over the next five days.

Tonight will be a trip to the Cape to see the beaches and quaint colonial towns and partake in a little seafood, maybe some steamers or a lobster roll.

Sunday will be a walk around Beacon Hill and the Back Bay area, ending up at Fenway for the Sox and the Yankees. Hopefully, Barry’s rains will hold off long enough for that to happen. Monday looks like a wet and windy affair, so a little improvisation will be in order. Let’s head to the North Shore, around Gloucester or Marblehead. Tuesday should feature scattered showers and storms, so that might be a good day for Lexington and Concord. Wednesday seems to be the most promising day weather wise, so I will plan for the Freedom Trail and finish up at Boston’s famous Museum of Fine Arts, which is open until 9: 45 p.m.

I will need your help. I have scoured the guidebooks. Watched the Travel Channel. Know the famous places to go. But maybe you have some cool, hole in the wall seafood places on the Cape or a great little romantic Italian restaurant in the North End where we can go. Share your travel tips and I promise to provide a little travelog on the blog through Wednesday.
