**NO Afternoon Weather Xtreme Video today due to ongoing thunderstorms**

RIGHT NOW: Scroll down for the latest on the thunderstorms in progress across our state. While there is no tornado risk (at least of any significance), the storms that have formed are capable of producing large hail and gusty winds. Hail stones up to the size of golf balls are likely in the stronger storms as they move northeast.

The storms will end from west to east tonight, and all of the rain should be out of the state by midnight.

Concerning outdoor graduation ceremonies across the state tonight, rain and storms are still possible in the 6-9 p.m. time frame, especially east of I-65. Much of West Alabama should be dry by 7:00.

TOMORROW: Drier air takes over; look for a mostly sunny sky tomorrow with lower humidity and a high in the low to mid 80s.

HEATING UP FOR THE WEEKEND: A strong upper ridge will build across Alabama and the Deep South over the holiday weekend. That means sunny days, fair nights, and hot afternoons. The high Saturday will be close to 90, followed by low 90s Sunday and Monday. Parts of Alabama could very well see mid 90s for the first time this year by Tuesday and Wednesday as the ridge gets even stronger. And, of course, the ridge also means no rain.

LONG RANGE: The good news is that the spring severe weather season is over, and we won’t have to deal with tornadoes for a while. The weather looks mostly hot and dry with only isolated afternoon showers or storms from time to time through mid-June as the ridge hangs around. Must be summertime in Alabama.
