Welcome to November and to standard time once again! I hope you set your clocks back last night so that you are on time today!

Today has started out a tad nippy with temperatures flirting with 40 degrees. But with lots of sun we should see temperatures climb into the 60s this afternoon. November is definitely starting in fine fashion and the lovely Fall weather is expected to be with us for much of the upcoming week.

In the upper atmosphere, a long wave trough will maintain itself across the eastern US, but the trough flattens a good deal during the coming week as the main disturbances traverse the US well north of the southern states. A strong short wave moving through the Great Lakes on Tuesday will drag a front into the area, however, it appears that it will only produce a few clouds as the atmosphere remains very dry.

Surface high pressure settles in behind that front and sticks with us into next weekend paving the way for cool mornings – lows in the 40s – and pleasant afternoons with highs around 70 to 74. Those values, by the way, are about typical for early November.

Yesterday I mentioned a concern for Atlantic moisture coming in around the high to our northeast. This run of the GFS suggests the high will be further south keeping the moisture away from us and well south of here.

No thunderstorms forecast anywhere across the US. And the National Hurricane Center continues to watch an area of cloudiness in the Central Atlantic which is not forecast to develop much and will remain well away from land.

Don’t forget to listen to our weekly netcast anytime on the web or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
