Tropical Storm Claudette cheated us. The remnants passed west of us. She waved over her shoulder and said goodbye.

Well, that is partially an exaggeration. We had planned on a statewide beneficial rain from her. That did not happen.

The thing she did that was good for us was to escort a lot of deep tropical moist air into the state and we are seeing some results of that today. The NWS/Huntsville had part of South Lawrence County under a Flash Flood Warning late this morning. Shortly afternoon, showers were occurring mainly from Cullman County and Marshall County NE to Jackson County. These showers include places like Cullman, Guntersville and Scottsboro.

Looking over our shoulder to the south, more showers and some thunderstorms were streaming northward from NW Florida and the Gulf Coast. Most of those were in a broken line from Chambers County south/westward to near Brewton and Pensacola.

Over on the SW side of the state, there was a nice group of showers including some moderate to heavy ones from west of Mobile northward to east of Meridian. Much of Choctaw and NW Washington County were getting some good rains. The movement was almost due north and some of those moderate to heavy showers will be approaching Livingston in Sumter County.

THE WEEKEND
New model guidance still shows a cool front reaching Alabama Saturday morning and pushing all the way to the coast by Sunday morning and even into the North Gulf of Mexico by Monday morning. This may give Central Alabama some very pleasant temperatures over the weekend with lows in the 60s and highs in the upper 80s, but with dew points well down in the60s, you will feel the lower humidity. We could have some showers still in progress Saturday morning, but Sunday should be dry.
