THIS AFTERNOON: Pretty quiet across the Alabama landscape this afternoon… very few showers are on radar, but we will maintain some risk of scattered storms through the evening hours. Temperatures remain below guidance; most spots are in the 80s, although Tuscaloosa and Montgomery are in the low 90s.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: An upper air high builds across Alabama and the Deep South, meaning heat levels will be going up, and rain chances are going down. MOS products from the models remain too hot; they are printing highs in the 95 to 97 degree range; we figure highs will be between 92 and 95 tomorrow and over the weekend. Still, the hottest weekend so far this year. A thunderstorm could very pop up each afternoon, but they should be very isolated due to the warm air aloft associated with the upper ridge. You will clearly know it is summer this weekend.

NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS has come in a little drier next week with warmer temperatures aloft, but we will keep the persistence forecast going with partly sunny, hot days and the risk of a few scattered showers and storms during the peak of the daytime heating process. Highs next week should be close to the 90 degree mark.
