This has been a remarkable January so far across Central Alabama. The first half of the month averaging 10 degrees above normal. Based on official data at Birmingham Airport which should be close to the same for all of Central Alabama:
* Only two mornings freezing or lower.
* Only one day when the afternoon high was cooler than normal. (January 1 with 48, although two other days had highs of 52 which is normal)
* Daytime highs for the first 14 days averaged 62. That is 10 degrees above normal!
* Nighttime lows averaged 42 with is 11 degrees above normal!
Big changes are coming but it will take a lot of cold air for January to end as a colder than normal month.
