A line of intense storms now extends from north of Ashville in St. Clair County into northeastern Jefferson County…then across the City of Birmingham into eastern Tuscaloosa east of the city of Tuscaloosa and then down into western Bibb County, west of Centreville…this activity will affect southern Jefferson and northern Shelby Counties over the next hour.

Incredible lightning all along the line. JB reported intense rain…visibility down to 1/2 mile with wind gusts estimated to 40 mph…

Winds gusted to 28 mph at the Birmingham Airport with 0.56 inches of rain in just over 15 minutes.

These storms are not severe…but they are causing quite a bit of havoc with torrential rain and strong winds.

More intense storms to the south…over Marengo, Wilcox Dallas and Perry Counties. Severe thunderstorm warning for Wilcox County…intense storm north of Camden producing hail…possibly to ping pong size…other strong storms in the Selma area…
