This note from J.P. Spann around 7:30 tonight gives an excellent account of the big bad thunderstorm over South Jefferson and North Shelby County.

Subject: Heck of a ride…

Took me 30 minutes to get home from class tonight. I’ve never seen it rain so hard in my life. On the 31/150 intersection, the traffic lights were sideways. I had to stop in the middle of the road twice because I couldn’t see 5 feet in front of me. It was like a hurricane. Tree limbs/signs blown down in places. Lots of small debris in our parking lot. I know it doesn’t look like much at all on radar, but that was intense.

No hail though, but the winds were wicked. No harm no foul, but I hope you weren’t caught up in that like I was!
