NWS/Birmingham is placing more West Alabama counties under a Significant Weather Alert. Newly added are:

Marengo County until 5:15
Perry County until 5:30
Greene and Hale Counties until 5:15

The Marengo County storm was approaching Demopolis, Jefferson, Old Spring Hill, Myrtle Wood, Providence and Nanafalia.

In Perry County, the strong storm was near Folsom or about 5 miles NW of Marion moving south slowly. It should affect Folsom, Marion and Hamburg.

A strong thunderstorm was along a line from SW of Cedarville to Demopolis. This is why Greene and Hale Counties are under a Significant Weather Alert. Locations affected will be Cedarville and Laneville.

In all these storms, winds could gust to 40 mph with dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning and downpours of rain.

MISCELLANEOUS REPORTS
In Jefferson County, 33/40 skywatcher Alston Keith reported intense lightning and heavy rain at Inverness.

While we are at it, these additional notes so we won’t have so many confusing posts.

* Strong storms in East Alabama from near Gadsden eastward across South Cherokee and North Cleburne County.

* Some fairly strong storms across North and West Shelby County.

* Way down in South Alabama, a line of thunderstorms extended from North Barbour County all the way over to south of Monroeville.

Everything moving generally southward.
